AKTOR is presently engaged in the region between Demir Kapija and Smokvica, working on a state-of-the-art highway system that will aid Macedonia’s trade and commerce, making travel and transport more efficient. Target Communications is AKTOR’s local management consulting partner.

A 28-kilometer stretch from Demir Kapija to Smokvica is the focus of AKTOR, which is developing a new highway system that is part of the pan-European Corridor 10. The highway will reportedly decrease travel time from the capital Skopje, to the Greek border by an estimated 30 minutes.

The complexity of the task that AKTOR undertook is remarkable, considering the fact that the route for the new highway includes dealing with hills, gorges, rivers, tunnels, bridges and underpasses. Modern technology and highly skilled workers are currently engaged in this project, which is projected to be completed by mid-2017. Once completed, the highway will feature a two-lane travel system with a speed limit of 130 km/h. By contracting with one of the premier construction companies in Europe, Macedonia will receive a highway system that is executed and maintained according to all EU standards. A total of 500 workers took part in the project, which will feature even more opportunities for business and employment upon completion thanks to locations planned for rest areas, gas stations and pay tolls.

Target Communications has overseen the employment, training and registrations of workers from both Macedonia and Greece, a crucial part of assembling a capable and professional workforce tasked with executing one of the most sophisticated infrastructure projects in the country’s history.
